A traditional mid terrace West Wales house desperately in need of upgrading and improvement astounded property experts with the price it achieved at auction.
Listed at just £4,000 the house, at 6, Watkin Street, Swansea, caught bidder’s interest and was soon heading towards its final sale price of £66,500.
Sean Roper, of South Wales-based Paul Fosh Auctions, said: “It’s an unassuming, traditional Swansea terraced house which is in need of a fair bit of remedial work. Bidders obviously saw potential in the lot as they piled in with their bids to secure the two-bedroom property.
“Sometimes lots can take us by surprise in the way that they move in terms of interest and the price they achieve and this is certainly one of those. The mid terrace house has all the ingredients to make a fine home once converted and it’s in an ideal location close to the centre of the city of Swansea.
“The lot attracted a total of eight individual bidders who together lodged some 98 bids before the fall of the virtual gavel in the online sale.”
The vibrant city of Swansea has a wealth of shops and leisure amenities and has seen significant investment over the last decade or so.
The next online Paul Fosh Auctions sale starts at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 29 and ends from 5pm on Thursday, July 31.
