The Pettifor Trust, one of South West Wales’ leading animal welfare charities, is celebrating 25 years of dedicated service, alongside announcing a new chapter in its leadership and strategic growth.

Founded in 2000 by Swansea’s Eve Pettifor, the Trust was established to support the welfare of vulnerable animals, both domestic and wild, across Wales. Over the past quarter-century, it has become a cornerstone of regional animal welfare, offering critical funding for veterinary care and supporting key organisations including Greenacres Rescue, Border Collie Rescue and Rehabilitation, and Llys Nini.

The Trust’s sustainable model, driven by two thriving charity shops in Sketty and Killay, complemented by a robust programme of fundraising events and community engagement, has fostered a reputation for trusted, grassroots impact within the region.

Marianne Pettifor, CEO of The Pettifor Trust said: “The charity will continue it’s devotion to the welfare of animals with lots of new exciting projects, funding avenues and expansion plans with the same team as the driving force.”

Demonstrating their continuous commitment to animal welfare, The Pettifor Trust has recently launched a significant three-month campaign in support of Greenacres Rescue in Pembrokeshire. This initiative aims to raise vital funds and encourage more families to adopt animals in need of a forever home.

Greenacres Rescue provides a safe haven for a wide range of animals, from dogs and cats to horses, offering them essential care while they await adoption.

Mikey Lawlor, Manager at Greenacres Rescue, emphasised the profound impact of adoption: “When you choose to adopt an animal from us, you embark on a remarkable journey of compassion, companionship, and transformation. By opening your heart and home to a furry friend in need, you not only change their life but also discover the profound impact they have on yours.”

Marianne Pettifor added: “Greenacres goes above and beyond for the animals in their care. We hope our campaign not only provides financial support but also helps them find loving homes for even more animals.”

While Greenacres is based in Pembrokeshire, it re-homes animals across the UK, requiring prospective adopters to undergo all necessary checks and travel to the West Wales centre to complete the adoption process. The rescue centre also welcomes donations of various kinds, from pet food to cleaning products.
