Only Men Aloud are the next major act announced to be taking part in Rhondda’s first-ever Rhondda Arts Festival in Treorchy this summer.

The Classical Brit Award winners are ready to thrill fans at the Park & Dare Theatre, Treorchy, on Saturday, June 30 (7.30pm).

Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, featuring Gilson Larvis, Marc Almond, Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Rosie Mae are also appearing during the Rhondda Arts Festival Treorchy at the same venue on Friday, June 29.

The Rhondda Arts Festival is a new addition to Wales’ artistic and cultural calendar taking place at venues around Treorchy.

Only Men Aloud, with special guests Vikki Bebb and Callum Howells, will be a concert filled with traditional and contemporary music.

Expect an electrifying atmosphere at the Park & Dare Theatre as Only Men Aloud perform their pitch perfect harmonies, creating an astonishing wall of sound that breathes new life into Welsh hymns and folk songs, opera and musical theatre favourites through to swing and pop anthems.

This one-night-only concert forms part of the Rhondda Arts Festival in Treorchy (RAFT) – a week of events and activities celebrating creativity in the Rhondda.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, with responsibility for Cultural Services, said:

“The Council is delighted to welcome some big names in the music industry to the Park & Dare Theatre this summer as it plays a leading role in delivering the first Rhondda Arts Festival in Treorchy.

“What a weekend we have in store, with Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra on the Friday Night, followed by Only Men Aloud the following evening – and much more still yet to be announced.

“Having such a big name in the world of music and entertainment come to the Park & Dare Theatre is testament to the quality of performers we are able to attract.

“Treorchy is a town rich in musical heritage – it is home to the iconic Park & Dare Theatre and was where Welsh entertainer Max Boyce recorded his first album ‘Live at Treorchy,’ which went on to make him a household name.

“The Festival has the potential to build on Rhondda’s legacy as an area of cultural significance and the event is expected to become a firm feature in the Arts calendar.”

Only Men Aloud, and special guests, are at the Park & Dare Theatre, Treorchy, on Saturday, June 30. Tickets are priced £20 and are available from the Box Office on 03000 040 444 or online at www.rct-theatres.co.uk
