Work on a series of new business units at Village Farm Industrial Estate are underway and progressing smoothly.

The construction work is being undertaken by Andrew Scott Ltd, who are also working on the redevelopment of the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl. The work involves eight 420 sq ft industrial units, which will be completely powered by green energy. Materials have been sourced from sub-contractors from Village Farm Industrial Estate and have been fitted with PV / Solar panels and air source heat pumps to help reduce running costs for the occupiers. They will also have dedicated EV chargers for each unit.

Councillor Huw David, Mayor of Bridgend County Borough, Councillor Neelo Farr, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economic Development and Housing and Chief Executive Jake Morgan recently visited the site to see how the works were progressing.

“We’re really pleased with the progress of these units so far. The fact that these units will be completely eco-friendly is a huge step forward for sustainability and they are the perfect sizes for businesses who want to have their own space in the county borough. We’re looking forward to completing the construction of these units and seeing them in use.”

Bill Pugh, Contracts Manager at Andrew Scott Ltd

“It was great to visit the construction site and get a closer look at the business units being built in Pyle Industrial Estate. These units will be the “greenest” units that Bridgend Council has built and it’s a huge step in the right direction for a more sustainable future. The location for them is a prime spot for businesses on the industrial estate and I have no doubt that we will have many budding business owners in the spaces when they officially open.”
