Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, in partnership with Pontypridd Town Council, is proud to announce the annual Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service will take place on Sunday 9th November 2025 at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd.

This solemn occasion honours British service personnel who have lost their lives in wars and military conflicts since the beginning of the First World War. Residents from across Rhondda Cynon Taf are warmly invited to attend and pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community.

The parade will commence at 10:35am, with participants from a wide range of community and military organisations forming up within the park before proceeding to the War Memorial. The service, led by Reverend Charlotte Rushton of St Catherine’s Church, Pontypridd, will begin at 11:00am and will include prayers, readings, and a two-minute silence for reflection and remembrance.

This event provides an opportunity for the Council and its communities to reaffirm their commitment to supporting both serving and retired members of the Armed Forces. Rhondda Cynon Taf continues to uphold its Armed Forces Covenant, which includes a free veterans advice service, access to the Covenant Grant Fund, and participation in the Armed Forces Discount Scheme.

Further details on the Covenant and available support can be found via the Council’s website.Additionally, the Council’s Armed Forces team works closely with Valleys Veterans and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to maintain war graves across the county borough. Volunteers are always welcome to assist in this important work. For more information, please visit www.valleyveterans.org.

Councillor Maureen Webber, Deputy Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Armed Forces Champion, said:

All members of the public are encouraged to attend the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service in Pontypridd. It is a meaningful opportunity for our communities to come together in support of the Armed Forces and to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. This is one of many commemorative events taking place across Rhondda Cynon Taf, organised by local groups and town councils.
