Cosmeston Lake Aqua Park welcomed more than 10,000 visitors before its two-month trial wrapped up in September.
As part of the trial, which ended on September 15, the Aqua Park created 30 jobs, providing valuable seasonal employment for local residents and young people in the area and an economic and community boost to Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and the wider Vale of Glamorgan.
It also drove increased footfall and spending across the park, supporting more varied activities and properly supervised use of the water in the eastern lake and an increase in visitor numbers.
In addition to recreational fun, the Aqua Park invested in local skills development by facilitating lifeguard training for 12 new recruits, who successfully achieved professionally recognised qualifications. This initiative has strengthened the region’s water safety and employment prospects for young people.
The park also proved popular with schools and community groups, hosting over 1,200 students from 27 local schools, clubs and educational organisations, who braved the inflatable obstacle course as part of their summer activities and team-building outings.
The trial saw the sale of more than 120 season passes, with many passholders becoming regulars at the Aqua Park. Collectively, they clocked up over 770 hours on the water and are estimated to have burned over 500,000 calories during their splash-filled summer adventures.
Beyond its direct visitor impact, the Aqua Park also helped raise nearly £1,000 for the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK). These funds will support water safety education initiatives for school-aged children across the Vale of Glamorgan, reinforcing the Aqua Park’s commitment to promoting safe enjoyment of water-based activities.
Connor James, Marketing Manager at Cosmeston Lakes Aqua Park, said: “We’re really pleased with how the summer trial has gone and thanks to the families, schools and organisations who have visited us for their support.
“We’d like to thank the Vale of Glamorgan Council for the opportunity to introduce this beautiful park and lake to so many new visitors who had never been to Cosmeston before coming to the Aqua Park. It’s been great to see so many people enjoying the water and making the most of what Cosmeston has to offer as a family fun day out.”
