The Met Office has warned of an unsettled few days ahead for Wales, with heavy and at times thundery showers expected across the country.

Monday will begin windy, with coastal gales likely in southern areas. There will be sunny spells between frequent blustery showers, some of which could turn heavy with hail and thunder. Winds will ease gradually through the afternoon, with temperatures around average for the time of year, reaching highs of around 15°C.

Tonight, showers will ease for a time, allowing for a few clear spells before more showers arrive from the west later in the night. These are not expected to be as heavy as Monday’s. It will remain breezy, with overnight lows of around 8°C.

Tuesday will bring a mix of sunshine and showers once again, though these will be less frequent and intense than Monday’s. Some areas could see longer spells of rain developing later in the day, and it will stay breezy with highs near 15°C.

Looking ahead to Wednesday through Friday, conditions are expected to improve slightly at first, with a mostly dry Wednesday before heavy rain returns overnight. Thursday will be unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain and strong winds, before things turn drier but colder by Friday.

Motorists and commuters are advised to be prepared for changeable conditions throughout the week.
