Voters across the Caerphilly constituency will head to the polls this Thursday, 23 October, as the by-election takes place to fill the vacant Senedd Cymru seat.

Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm, giving residents plenty of time to cast their vote.

If you’re unsure where to go, visit wheredoivote.co.uk to find your local polling station.

Polling stations will be open in the following wards and communities:

    • Aber Valley

    • Bargoed (not Aberbargoed)

    • Bedwas and Trethomas

    • Gilfach

    • Hengoed

    • Llanbradach

    • Machen and Rudry

    • Morgan Jones (Caerphilly)

    • Nelson

    • Penyrheol

    • St Catwg’s (Cascade, Gelligaer, Penpedairheol)

    • St Martins (Caerphilly)

    • Van (Lansbury Park, Mornington Meadows, Porset Park)

    • Ystrad Mynach

Residents in these areas can view the full list of polling stations on the Caerphilly County Borough Council elections page.

This by-election follows the passing of Hefin David, who had represented Caerphilly in the Senedd since 2016. Labour has held the seat since devolution in 1999, and the result is being seen as a key indicator ahead of the 2026 Senedd election.

To take part, make sure you’re registered to vote. Polling stations open at 7am and close at 10pm. Anyone still in the queue at 10pm will be allowed to vote.
