The organisers of Swansea’s annual gardening competition are recruiting volunteers to serve on its management committee and to join the team of judges in time for the 2019 event.

Specifically, they are looking for a new chairman, vice chairman, secretary and minute secretary, as well as new judges.

Anybody interested in helping in any capacity is invited to complete the volunteer application form on the group’s website at www.swanseainbloom.co.uk. Alternatively they can call committee representative Bob Mapp on 01792 299 543, or send an email to [email protected].

All applicants are also invited to attend the group’s annual general meeting at 7pm on Friday November 30thin the community room at the Fforestfach branch of Tesco’s, where new officers will be appointed, and plans for the 2019 competition will be discussed.

The Swansea in Bloom group (SIB) has been running the annual gardening competition, in conjunction with Swansea City Council, for the past 25 years. Unfortunately, funding and support from the Council were withdrawn this year, meaning the 2018 competition had to be cancelled.

However, the group is restructuring, and planning for an even bigger and better event next year.  Judging will take place in June and July 2019.

SIB is now talking to new sponsors and looking for new ways in which to brighten up the competition and make it more fun than ever.
