Elan Catrin Parry from Wrexham has achieved an incredible feat by completing the Chester Triple Challenge, culminating in the Chester Marathon, all in support of Nightingale House Hospice, a charity close to her family’s heart.

Elan’s journey to the finish line has been one of determination, recovery, and resilience. In February 2023, after suffering two years of pain, Elan underwent surgery to repair the labrum in her hip. Unfortunately, the damage was so severe that the labrum had to be removed entirely. During the operation, her hip flexor was overstretched, leaving her unable to lift her left foot, even to walk.

Through months of hydrotherapy and physiotherapy, Elan rebuilt her strength step by step, eventually setting her sights on the Chester 2025 Triple Race Series. Against all odds, she not only completed the challenge but crossed the Chester Marathon finish line with an incredible time of 3 hours and 26 minutes.

“Having the injury was difficult as I wasn’t able to do one of the things I loved most but I knew that with hard work I’d be able to come back stronger.” Said Elan.

“It was brilliant to be able to complete the Chester Triple for such a fantastic course”

Elise Jackson, Events and Campaigns Manager at Nightingale House Hospice, said:

“Elan’s story is one of true courage and heart.

“To come back from such a significant injury and not only complete the Chester Triple Challenge but do so with such an incredible time is inspirational.

“Her dedication and compassion reflect the very best of our community, and we’re so grateful for her ongoing support.”
