Wales is in for a mixed few days of weather, with the Met Office warning of scattered showers, breezy conditions and some early morning fog that could cause travel delays for some.

Much of Wales starts today on a dry and bright note, especially across eastern areas. Western parts will see more cloud and a few early showers, which are expected to grow heavier and more frequent as the day goes on. Central and eastern areas should stay largely fine. Temperatures will peak around 10°C.

A yellow weather warning for fog is also in place this morning, though it only affects Powys and Monmouthshire. Fog patches in rural spots have been dense at times, with visibility dropping below 100 metres. Conditions should slowly improve through the morning as the fog lifts.

Drivers are being urged to check road conditions, allow extra time for journeys and make sure their fog lights are working before heading out.

This evening starts with some clear spells, though cloud will build and winds will strengthen as the night goes on. Rain will push in from the southwest overnight, bringing some heavy bursts at times. It will turn clearer in the south later. Temperatures are expected to fall to around 6°C.

Thursday sees the rain clearing to the northeast, leaving brighter spells for the south and west. Sunshine and scattered showers are likely through the rest of the day, and there is a chance of frost and fog forming overnight. Highs will reach about 8°C.

Looking ahead to Friday and the weekend, things stay unsettled. Friday begins on a bright note, but a band of rain and strong winds will move northeastwards later. The following days bring a mix of blustery showers and sunny spells.

Wales can expect changeable conditions overall, so anyone travelling or planning outdoor activities should keep an eye on the latest forecasts.
