Police are investigating an allegation of rape reported to have taken place at a popular Pembrokeshire nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Dyfed Powys Police said the incident was reported to have happened at Sands Nightclub in Saundersfoot just after 3am on Sunday 14 December. It is alleged to have taken place in the toilet area of the venue.

Officers have confirmed that an 18 year old male has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have been in the nightclub at the time, or who may have seen or heard anything relevant, to come forward. Officers believe there may be people who have information that could assist the investigation.

A spokesperson for Dyfed Powys Police said they are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the alleged incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or emailing [email protected]. Information can also be submitted online via the Dyfed Powys Police website. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or through their website.

When contacting police, quote reference number 25*1018987.

Support is available for anyone affected by sexual offences, and police have stressed that reports will be treated sensitively and seriously.
