Caerphilly County Borough Council has once again support the “Everyone Deserves a Christmas” campaign, led by Nick Smith MP and Carolyn Harris MP, helping families and individuals facing hardship to enjoy a dignified and meaningful Christmas.

This year, 50 Christmas hampers will be distributed to families and people in need across the Upper Rhymney Valley. Recipients were identified through partner organisations and council services working closely with local residents, helping to ensure support reached those who would benefit most.

The hampers were delivered to Rhymney Library Hub, which again served as the central point for distribution. The initiative was made possible through partnership working between council teams including Supporting People, Tenancy Support and the Youth and Family Support Team, alongside partner organisations. The Council would also like to thank Nick Smith MP and Carolyn Harris MP for continuing to work with local services to support communities in the area.

Councillor Carol Andrews, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education, Communities & Transformation, attended Rhymney Library Hub as the hampers were delivered and highlighted the importance of supporting people most in need at Christmas.

“For many people, Christmas can be a difficult and worrying time. Working closely with partners and frontline services allows us to identify those most in need and offer support where it will have the greatest impact. Initiatives like this help ensure families and individuals feel supported and valued during the festive period.”

Each hamper included a range of non-perishable food items alongside fresh ingredients and festive treats, helping households to enjoy a Christmas meal and some seasonal comforts.

The “Everyone Deserves a Christmas” campaign continues to support communities by addressing holiday hardship while promoting dignity, kindness and collaboration across the Upper Rhymney Valley area.

If you’re struggling or need help, please visit Rhymney Library Hub to access support services and advice throughout the year.
