Wales is set for a cloudy and damp few days, with heavy showers at times and increasingly windy conditions, according to the latest forecast from the Met Office.

Today, Thursday January 22, will bring another largely grey and unsettled day across much of the country. Rain and heavy showers are expected to be frequent and prolonged in places, although winds will be lighter overall compared to recent days. It will still feel blustery when showers pass through. Some brighter spells may develop later in the day across parts of Pembrokeshire. Despite the unsettled conditions, it will remain fairly mild, with temperatures reaching around 10°C.

Tonight, spells of rain will gradually ease during the evening, leading to a mostly dry night with some clearer intervals developing. It will feel noticeably chillier than recent nights, with temperatures dropping to around 4°C. However, rain is expected to return to southern parts of Wales towards the early hours of Friday.

Friday will start wet for many, with spells of rain moving northwards during the morning. Conditions should become brighter later in the day, though this will be accompanied by scattered showers. It will be a windy day, particularly along coastal areas and across the Welsh hills, where gusts may be strong at times. Temperatures will be similar to Thursday, with highs of around 9°C.

Looking ahead to the weekend and early next week, Saturday is expected to remain windy with some heavy showers developing. From Sunday into Monday, conditions are likely to stay cloudy and breezy, with further outbreaks of rain at times. The Met Office says it will begin to turn colder as we move into next week, bringing a more wintry feel across Wales.

Residents are advised to keep an eye on local forecasts, especially if travelling or planning outdoor activities, as conditions may change quickly during periods of heavy rain and strong winds.
