Wales is facing a cloudy and unsettled week with frequent spells of rain and drizzle, according to the latest forecast from the Met Office.

Today will remain largely overcast with periods of rain affecting many areas, particularly across the south where conditions are expected to be most persistent and heavy. Some drier intervals are possible, mainly during the morning, before showers become more widespread. It will also turn breezy in southern parts, with temperatures reaching a maximum of around 10°C.

Heavy rain will continue into this evening before gradually clearing eastwards. The Met Office has warned that flooding is possible in the far south as downpours move through. Overnight conditions should become drier, although a few drizzly showers are likely to linger. Winds are expected to ease, with temperatures falling to a low of 4°C.

Tuesday will begin with murky conditions and patchy drizzle in places. Wet weather is set to return from the west later in the day as a heavy band of rain pushes eastwards across the country. Despite the unsettled conditions, temperatures will remain mild, reaching up to 11°C.

The outlook for the rest of the week remains mixed. Further rain and showers are forecast from Wednesday through to Friday, with some spells likely to be heavy and prolonged. Forecasters say conditions could turn wintry later in the week as colder air moves in from the north, although Friday is expected to bring brighter intervals.

Residents are being advised to stay up to date with the latest weather information, particularly in areas prone to surface water and river flooding.
