Motorists across South Wales are facing a difficult start to the day after a series of congestion hotspots were reported on major routes during Wednesday morning’s commute.

Traffic Wales reported delays on several key roads around Cardiff, Newport and Neath, with drivers warned to allow extra time for their journeys.

The M4 eastbound is experiencing congestion between junction 27 at High Cross and junction 23A at Magor, a stretch often heavily used by commuters travelling towards the Severn crossings and Bristol.

Meanwhile, traffic is also building on the A470 around Nantgarw. Delays have been reported on the northbound off slip at Nantgarw, as well as on the southbound carriageway between Nantgarw and Coryton, which feeds into the M4.

Elsewhere, congestion has been reported on the A4232 northbound between Culverhouse Cross and junction 33 at Capel Llanilltern, a key route for drivers heading towards the M4 and Cardiff Gate.

Further west, drivers are also experiencing delays on the A465 westbound between Neath and Llandarcy.

Traffic Wales is advising motorists to plan ahead, allow additional travel time and consider alternative routes where possible while congestion continues to affect several main routes across the region.
