Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Lakeside Care Home in Cardiff, South Wales.

Lakeside Care Home, which is registered for 69 elderly clients, occupies a substantial 65-bedroom, purpose-built property. It is ideally located on Wedal Road, in the heart of Cardiff and close to the University Hospital of Wales.

The business was founded by Phil Cliffe in 1994, who extended the property during COVID, adding 18 en suite wet rooms via a substantial extension, which was completed in 2023.

After 32 years of ownership and a successful career in the care sector, Phil decided to sell to retire.

Following a targeted marketing campaign with Rob Kinsman at Christie & Co, the home has been purchased by local providers, Alex Cornford and Victoria Keenan, who own Willowbrook House Nursing Home in nearby St Mellons.

Phil Cliffe, founder and former owner of Lakeside Care Home, comments, “It is with a mix of pride and sadness that we move on from Lakeside. It has been such an integral part of my life for over 30 years, and I am so proud of what the team has achieved. We are absolutely delighted to be handing over the reins to Alex and Victoria, who I know have the same ethos and standards. We wish them and the staff all the very best.”

Alex Cornford, new owner of Lakeside Care Home, comments, “Having operated Willowbrook in neighbouring St Mellons for so long, the acquisition of Lakeside was a natural fit for us to grow our footprint in Cardiff. We look forward to continuing the excellent quality of care that the team provides at the home, and meeting residents and families over the forthcoming weeks.”

Rob Kinsman, Regional Director – Care at Christie & Co, comments, “We are delighted to conclude this deal for Phil, whom we have known for many years. We wish Alex and Victoria all the best at Lakeside. This deal underlines operator confidence in the sector, and we look forward to announcing further deals in South Wales over the forthcoming months.”

Lakeside Care Home was sold for an undisclosed price. Acuity Law represented the sellers, and Capital Law acted for the purchasers.
