Langstone Vale Crematorium has re-opened its doors as the first funeral SuperVenue in Wales, enabling bereaved families to experience immeasurable personalisation to their loved ones’ services.
The chapel closed recently in order to undergo a full renovation which included the installation of state-of-the-art technology to allow funeral services to be more uniquely personal than ever before.
Langstone Vale Crematorium, just outside Newport, is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 42 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, and which is trusted by more families than any other provider to deliver funerals for their loved ones.
All Westerleigh’s locations are set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect, while benefitting from exceptional care and support from its teams.
Families now visiting the SuperVenue at Langstone Vale Crematorium for a funeral will first notice a new external welcome screen displaying the name and cherished photo of their loved one.
Larger congregations will benefit from a second external screen which will livestream the service.
Inside the chapel, they will be surrounded by a beautifully-curated immersive theme. as selected by the closest family members, projected onto the entire front wall of the chapel – canvas – and accompanied by harmoniously co-ordinated soundscapes and lighting.
Langstone Vale Crematorium Manager Aaron Carter said: “I am proud that we are the first crematorium in Wales to offer this innovative, immersive, funeral experience to the bereaved.
“The technology enables families to personalise a funeral to an unprecedented level and create an atmosphere that is truly authentic to the person it remembers.
“There is a wide choice of canvases – some themes are scenic or represent seasons, others reflect specific interests and passions – all designed to curate a uniquely personal funeral service, specifically significant to the individual being remembered.”
Westerleigh Group opened the world’s first funeral SuperVenue in late 2024 and feedback was so encouraging that the group committed to investing in making the techology available to as many families as possible all over the country.
After the opening of four more SuperVenues in 2025, in 2026 the group plans to unveil nine more, seven being the result of refurbishing existing crematoria like Langstone Vale and two, brand new developments having the technology incorporated as they get built.
Aaron added: “We are passionate about providing the families we support with exceptional care and service of the very highest standards.
“The SuperVenue technology means we can provide the bereaved with more choice than ever before, enabling them to remember their loved one in the comforting company of other family members and friends.
“We are looking forward to helping our families make their final farewells more memorable – and special – than ever before.”
