A man has been jailed after plain clothes officers witnessed him carry out multiple suspected drug deals across Cardiff.
Lee Whitfield, 49, from Roath has been sentenced to three years and three months in prison after pleading guilty to possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A – Crack Cocaine at Cardiff Crown Court on March 26.
Plain clothes officers from the serious and organised crime team were conducting proactive covert patrols across Cardiff on February 10, 2026, when they witnessed Whitfield acting suspiciously, in what officers believed to be a drug deal. Further enquiries identified one of these people as in possession of crack cocaine after meeting Whitfield.
Whitfield was then seen by officers at an address, where he kept entering and exiting, which they suspected was to supply drugs to people outside.
Officers entered the address and Whitfield was arrested on suspicion of supplying Crack Cocaine.
Officers conducted a search of the address and Whitfields’ vehicle where they found drug-related paraphernalia including:
- iPhone involved in a drugs line
- Crack Pipe
- Loose rocks of crack cocaine
- Digital scales with traces of white powder
- White rocks in clear wrapping
Detective Constable Adam Fenlon said:
“The wider community is a better place with drug dealers like Whitfield off the streets.’
“The drugs that were seized have devastating long-lasting consequences on the users, their family and the wider members of the public.
“Our plain clothes patrols could be anywhere at anytime, always on the look out to keep our communities safe from serious and organised crime.
