North Wales estate brings round the clock farm produce access to customers

Rhug Estate is bringing rural convenience into the 21st century with the launch of out-of-hours vending machines and InPost parcel lockers – removing barriers for local people while keeping fresh, organic produce within easy reach around the clock.

The award-winning organic estate, near Corwen, has introduced the vending machines to give customers 24/7 access to Rhug’s premium produce beyond traditional Farm Shop hours, offering a practical solution for busy visitors while also helping reduce food waste.

Stocked with the estate’s own organic products, the machines allow customers to pick up fresh, local food whenever it suits them – early in the morning, later in the evening or during busy weekends when flexibility makes all the difference.

Alongside this, InPost lockers have been installed near the Ice Cream Parlour, beside the Farm Shop.

The self-service lockers make it easier for people to collect and return parcels without the long journeys – the nearest alternative is more than five miles away – many rural residents often face just to reach courier services.

    Lord Newborough

Lord Newborough, owner of Rhug Estate, said: “We are always looking for practical ways to support our local community while staying true to our sustainability values.

“The vending machines mean people can access our produce outside normal opening hours and help us reduce unnecessary waste, while the InPost lockers solve a genuine problem for many people living in rural areas who often have to travel significant distances for parcel collections and returns.

“We want Rhug to be genuinely useful for our community, not just a place to visit, and these additions are another step towards making the Estate even more welcoming for both residents and visitors alike.”

Those stopping by to collect parcels can also make the most of the Farm Shop, Café and the recently expanded outdoor dining and conservatory area, adding to the overall visitor experience.

These developments come during a significant period of growth for Rhug Estate. Earlier this year, one of North Wales’ most recognisable roadside landmarks – the famous metal bison statue that has stood outside the Farm Shop on the A5 for more than 15 years – was transformed into a striking gold feature.

The sculpture reflects the Estate’s continued success, including receiving a Royal Warrant of Appointment from His Majesty King Charles III, recognition as home to the UK’s largest bison herd, and continued progress in sustainability, biodiversity and regenerative farming.

Recent environmental milestones include further carbon measurement work following Planet Mark Business Certification, with Rhug calculating Scope 3 emissions linked to the Farm Shop and wider operations as part of its long-term net zero ambitions.
