Motorists travelling on the M4 eastbound between Junction 47 Penllergaer and Junction 46 Llangyfelach have been warned to take extra care after cows were reported on the hard shoulder.

Traffic Wales issued an alert on Friday afternoon confirming that officers were on their way to the scene to deal with the situation.

The incident is affecting the eastbound carriageway approaching Swansea, with drivers urged to remain vigilant while travelling through the area.

Animals on or near major roads can pose a significant hazard to both motorists and the animals themselves, particularly on busy stretches of motorway where traffic speeds are high.

Traffic Wales said: “Cows on the hard shoulder. Officers en route.”

No lane closures had been reported at the time of writing, but motorists are advised to approach the area with caution and allow extra time for their journeys if necessary.

Drivers can check the latest traffic conditions before travelling through the area via Traffic Wales.
