Fans of Labubu and collectible designer toys can finally mark their calendars, as POP MART has officially confirmed when it will open its first store in Cardiff.

After signage recently appeared at St David’s Cardiff, sparking excitement among shoppers and collectors, POP MART UK has now announced that the new store will officially open on Friday, June 19.

St David’s Shopping Centre shared the news on social media, telling fans: “It’s the opening date you’ve been waiting for, Cardiff. POP MART UK is coming 19th June and the Labubus are plotting their takeover.”

The arrival of POP MART is expected to attract huge interest from collectors across Wales, with the brand’s popular blind box figures, including the hugely sought-after Labubu range, continuing to grow in popularity worldwide.

The Cardiff store will be located within St David’s shopping centre, upper level of St David’s 2, and marks another major addition to the city’s retail offering.

When Wales 247 first reported on the appearance of POP MART branding at St David’s, many readers speculated that an announcement was imminent. Confirmation of the June 19 opening date is likely to be welcomed by fans who have previously travelled to London, Birmingham and Manchester to visit the retailer’s UK stores.

Founded in China, POP MART has become a global phenomenon thanks to its designer toy collaborations and collectible figures. The mischievous-looking Labubu character, created by artist Kasing Lung, has become one of the company’s most recognisable and in-demand collections.

With just days to go until opening, collectors are already expected to be planning their first visit, with demand likely to be particularly strong for exclusive releases and limited-edition figures.

More details about opening day activities and product availability are expected to be announced closer to launch.
