Motorists are being advised of a four-day road closure on Llanwonno Mountain Road next week to allow emergency carriageway repairs to be carried out.

The road will be closed continuously from 8am on Tuesday, June 16, until the end of the day on Friday, June 19.

The closure will affect Llanwonno Mountain Road between Blaenllechau Road/Commercial Street in the Rhondda Fach and a point near St Gwynno’s Church and Brynfynnon at Llanwonno.

The works are being undertaken to carry out essential repairs to the carriageway, with the route remaining closed throughout the day and night for the duration of the project.

An alternative diversion route will be in place for motorists, travelling via Bryn Ffynon, Llanwonno Road, Pleasant View, Heol-Y-Mynach, Clydach Road, Clydach Terrace, New Road, Ynysybwl Road, Berw Road, Gelliwastad Road, Catherine Street, the A4058 and A4233 through Ferndale, before rejoining Commercial Street and Station Road.

Despite the closure, access will be maintained for emergency services and for residents and other premises, including properties located on Blaenllechau Road.

Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys and follow the signed diversion route while the repairs are completed.

The emergency works are expected to be finished and the road reopened by the end of Friday, June 19.
