McDonald’s on Lyne Road in Newport has reopened following a major redesign aimed at improving the experience for customers and restaurant staff.

The restaurant, which is owned and operated by local franchisee Ron Mounsey, has been refurbished as part of McDonald’s reimaging programme, introducing a new layout and the latest technology to provide faster, more efficient and more flexible ordering.

The redesign reflects changing customer habits, with increasing demand for speed, efficiency and choice when ordering food. The updated restaurant better integrates digital sales channels, including the McDonald’s App, while making smarter use of internal space to improve the dine in experience.

Dedicated areas have also been created for different ways of ordering, while the removal of the traditional front counter is designed to make ordering more efficient and provide customers with more space to enjoy their meals.

The refurbishment also includes separate facilities for dine in customers and delivery couriers, helping to improve the experience for everyone using the restaurant.

Restaurant staff are also set to benefit from the investment, with improvements to the crew room creating a more relaxing and comfortable space for employees to take their breaks.

Local McDonald’s franchisee Ron Mounsey, who owns and operates 17 McDonald’s restaurants across South Wales, said: “I’m proud to reinvest in our Lyne Road, Newport restaurant! The dining area is more contemporary, and we now have separate facilities for our dine-in customers and our couriers leading to a better experience for everyone. It’s exciting to see the fresh new look and feel of our Lyne Road restaurant and I’m confident the changes will not only benefit our customers but also our restaurant team as these will help make their jobs a little easier.”

The redesigned restaurant aims to deliver a more seamless experience for customers, while supporting the growing use of digital ordering alongside the traditional walk in service.
