A man has been charged following a serious assault in New Quay, Ceredigion, which left a 20 year old man with serious injuries.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the incident happened in Margaret Street leading to Uplands Square at around 12.51am on Saturday, July 4.

The injured man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police have charged 37 year old Ciaran McConnell, of New Quay, with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He remains in police custody and is due to appear at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 6.

A 59 year old man has also been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Officers are continuing their investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have doorbell, CCTV or other security camera footage from the area between 12.50am and 5.20am on Saturday, July 4.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police online, by emailing [email protected], by sending a direct message via social media, or by calling 101, quoting reference DP-20260704-028.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or via its website.

Dyfed-Powys Police thanked local residents for their cooperation and understanding while enquiries were carried out, as well as those who have already assisted the investigation.
