Motorists are being urged to plan ahead as road closures come into force across Swansea ahead of this weekend’s Wales Airshow.
Swansea Council has confirmed that a series of temporary traffic restrictions will be in place from Friday, July 24 through to the early hours of Monday, July 27 to support the safe delivery of the popular event.
Drivers are being asked to allow extra time for their journeys and follow signed diversion routes throughout the weekend.
The council is also reminding visitors planning to use the free bus services to check timetables carefully, especially for return journeys. While Swansea Council is funding the free buses, individual bus operators will decide service levels and the time of the last departures from the city centre.
From 12 noon on Friday until 5am on Monday, Oystermouth Road and Mumbles Road will be closed westbound between West Way and Brynmill Lane. During this period there will also be no access from the eastbound carriageway of Oystermouth Road to Bond Street, St Helens Road, Beach Street and Gorse Lane.
The eastbound carriageway of Oystermouth Road will remain open, although a temporary 20mph speed limit will be in force. Access to Swansea Marina will continue via Dunvant Place.
From 8am on Saturday until 5am on Monday, Oystermouth Road and Mumbles Road will close in both directions between West Way and Sketty Lane. Diversions will be in place throughout the closure.
Access to the Marina will continue via Dunvant Place, while Argyle Street will remain accessible using a short diversion through the Civic Centre.
Temporary daytime closures will also affect Pantycelyn Road, between Dyfed Avenue and Townhill Road, and Nicander Parade, between Llewelyn Circle and Creidiol Road, from 8am to 7pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Guildhall Road South will also be closed from 6am on Saturday until 5am on Monday between its junction with Francis Street and Oystermouth Road. Access to Swansea University and Brynmill Lane will be maintained via Sketty Lane.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times throughout the event.
