Temperatures are set to soar across Wales this week, with the Met Office forecasting highs of 30°C and heat peaking on Wednesday and Thursday.
A settled and increasingly hot spell is expected across the country as heatwave conditions become likely to return to many parts of the UK.
Wales will start the week with dry and settled conditions on Monday, accompanied by light winds and sunny spells.
Some of the sunshine could turn hazy at times as areas of cloud drift through, but it will feel warm when the sun emerges. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 24°C.
Monday evening will bring some late brightness before a mixture of clear spells and variable cloud develops overnight.
Conditions will remain dry, with temperatures staying rather warm in urban areas while becoming noticeably fresher in rural locations. Overnight temperatures could fall as low as 6°C in places.
Temperatures to reach 30°C on Tuesday
The heat will build significantly on Tuesday, with another fine and dry day forecast across Wales.
There will be plenty of strong sunshine throughout the region, although conditions are expected to be slightly breezier than on Monday.
Temperatures are forecast to climb as high as 30°C.
The hottest conditions are then expected on Wednesday and Thursday, with further strong sunshine as the heat peaks across Wales.
Conditions are expected to become more unsettled towards the end of the week.
Cloud and patchy outbreaks of rain are forecast to arrive erratically, mainly affecting northern counties.
Staying safe in hot weather
With temperatures expected to rise, people are being advised to take sensible precautions during the hot weather.
This includes staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day and checking on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.
The Met Office also provides advice on UV and sun health, pollen levels and staying safe around water.
Its app includes a dedicated beach forecast providing tide times, wave heights and sea-surface temperatures, alongside guidance on UV and pollen levels.
