THE TEAM at Specsavers Penarth has celebrated 20 years of serving the local community with a day of fundraising, family activities and in-store celebrations.
The store marked the milestone with raffles, games and refreshments, welcoming customers, local sponsors and community partners into the store to join the occasion.
Since opening 20 years ago, the store has supported more than 40,000 customers in Penarth and surrounding areas with eye and hearing care, while supporting local schools, grassroots sports teams, charities and community groups through long-standing partnerships and sponsorships.
Most recently, the store joined four other Specsavers stores to donate 7,500 high-visibility vests, worth £15,000, to children aged four to seven across the communities they serve to help them stay visible and safe.
The anniversary celebrations also included fundraising in support of colleague Jodie Morgan, who recently completed a five-day Jurassic Coast trek for breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel!. She previously completed an Isle of Skye challenge during her recovery from breast cancer.
Alongside routine eye tests and hearing services, the store provides a range of NHS-funded enhanced eye care services that help customers access treatment more quickly and closer to home, while reducing pressure on local NHS services.
Ophthalmic director, Andrew Moss, says: ‘We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating 20 years in Penarth. Over the years, we’ve built strong relationships with our customers and the local community. It was fantastic to mark the occasion with so many people who have supported us along the way.
‘The industry has evolved significantly over the past two decades and there are now more opportunities than ever for us to expand the services we offer and support even more people locally. Through enhanced NHS services such as Independent Prescribing, we’re able to help customers access care more quickly and conveniently within their community.
