Two popular Cardiff farmers’ markets will swap their usual trading days this weekend because of a major event at the Principality Stadium.
Riverside Farmers’ Market will take place on Saturday, August 15, instead of its usual Sunday slot.
The market will also open earlier, running from 8.30am until 12.30pm on Fitzhamon Embankment.
Roath Farmers’ Market will move from Saturday to Sunday, August 16. It will be open from 9.30am until 1pm at Mackintosh Sports Club on Keppoch Street.
Cardiff Farmers’ Markets said the temporary change was needed because a major event is being held at the Principality Stadium, opposite the usual Riverside market site.
Normal trading arrangements will return the following weekend, with Roath Farmers’ Market taking place on Saturdays and Riverside Farmers’ Market operating on Sundays.
Cardiff Farmers’ Markets have been part of the city’s food scene for more than 25 years, bringing together local growers, farmers, makers and independent food businesses.
Regular traders offer locally grown fruit and vegetables, sourdough bread, meat, cheese, eggs, honey, flowers, baked goods and street food.
The markets also provide small independent producers with a route to customers while serving as community meeting places where shoppers can learn more about seasonal food and how it is produced.
The organisation’s other weekly market in Rhiwbina will continue to take place on Fridays.
