Wales’s largest homelessness and rough sleeping charity has launched a revamped service in Pembrokeshire aimed at helping more people before they reach a housing crisis.
The Wallich is working in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council to deliver the new Pembrokeshire Homeless Prevention Service, providing support to people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home.
In May 2026, 268 people in Pembrokeshire were living in temporary accommodation, including 23 people aged under 16, according to local authority data. The council also recorded 15 people known to be sleeping rough during the same month.
The new service will support people in a wide range of circumstances, including those living in privately rented homes, council or housing association properties, temporary accommodation and owner-occupied homes.
Support will also be available to people who are homeless, sofa surfing or sleeping in cars, sheds or other situations where they do not have a fixed home.
The Wallich’s team of Support Workers will travel across Pembrokeshire to work with people wherever they are.
The service will focus on three main aims: preventing homelessness wherever possible, helping people access safe and suitable housing, and supporting people to keep their homes and build resilience.

Support available through the service includes help with benefits, budgeting, rent arrears and debt, housing applications and exploring housing options.
The team can also help people prepare for appointments, speak to landlords and partner agencies, move house and maintain a tenancy.
People can also receive support to access wellbeing, education, volunteering and personal development opportunities.
The Pembrokeshire Homeless Prevention Service joins three other services already delivered by The Wallich in the county: the Street Homelessness Support Service, Conflict Resolutions Service and Making Space – Holistic Hoarding Service.
