Transport for Wales (TfW) is asking passengers and residents to help shape plans to improve Carmarthen Railway Station, one of the busiest transport hubs in South West Wales.
A public consultation is now underway, giving residents, commuters and visitors who use the station an opportunity to share their experiences and suggest improvements.
The consultation runs from 21 September until 12 October, with TfW looking at ways to make journeys between different forms of transport easier, safer and more convenient.
As part of the consultation, a public drop-in event will be held at Carmarthen Railway Station on Thursday, 24 September, between 08:00 and 18:00.
Members of the public will be able to speak directly to the project team, ask questions and share their views on the future of the station.
Feedback will be used to help TfW understand passenger experiences and identify potential improvements, including better integration between bus and rail services, improved access to the station and enhancements to the overall passenger experience.
Carmarthen Railway Station is a major transport hub for South West Wales, connecting the town and surrounding communities with employment, education, healthcare and leisure opportunities across Wales and beyond.
It also serves as an important interchange between TrawsCymru coach services and the rail network.
Nathaniel Owen, TfW’s Senior Customer Operations Manager at Carmarthen station said: “We really want to hear the thoughts of the people who care most about Carmarthen railway station: the people who use it. Your views will help us shape its future as a gateway to west Wales.
“Carmarthen Station has always been an incredibly important location for us, linking the town and wider community into rail services towards Swansea, Cardiff, Manchester and London, as well as key locations in Pembrokeshire.
“Recently, we’ve seen the successful development of TrawsCymru services to and from Aberystwyth, and later this year we’ll be launching a new north-south express coach service linking the station to Bangor. So it’s definitely the right time for us to understand what improvements at Carmarthen railway station would enhance the overall customer experience.”
Members of the public can complete the consultation online through Transport for Wales’ Have Your Say website until 12 October.
The drop-in event will take place at Carmarthen Railway Station on 24 September from 08:00 until 18:00.
