Nathan Berry, 38, from Llantwit Major, has been jailed for taking indecent images of children and sexually assaulting a child.
Berry was arrested in March 2026, and his mobile phone was seized.
Images of children were found on his phone, and he provided the children’s names.
Officers visited the children’s parents who identified their children, who are non-verbal, from the photographs.
While Berry was on remand, his phone was further examined, and evidence was found relating to the offence of sexual touching
Berry pleaded guilty at court and was convicted of eight offences – four counts of taking indecent photographs, two counts of making indecent images, one count of possession of prohibited images, and one sexual assault of a child under 13.
He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on August 3, 2026, receiving a prison sentence of 5 years and 4 months plus an extended licence period of eight years.
The court heard that Berry targeted the two children due to their vulnerabilities.
To further protect the victims and others, Berry is also subject of a Restraining Order and Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
As part of the SHPO he is banned from having any unsupervised contact or communication of any kind with any child under the age of 16.
