Ceredigion County Council are urging residents to be aware of scam calls, having recently received reports of scam calls being made to Ceredigion residents from callers claiming to be from the ‘local Council’.

Cabinet Member for ICT and Customer Services, Councillor Dafydd Edwards said, “It’s vitally important to raise Ceredigion residents’ awareness and for them to be both apprehensive and aware of these scam calls. If you receive a call of this nature, report it immediately.”

    Councillor Edwards continues,

“If you receive a call from anyone claiming to be from the Council and have any suspicions whatsoever about the caller or the nature of the call, take the caller’s name and call Ceredigion County Council’s Customer Contact Centre on 01545 570881. Ceredigion County Council encourages residents to share this message with elderly or vulnerable friends or relatives. Remember if it sound too good to be true, it’s usually a scam.”

If you have been affected by a scam, please contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or visit www.actionfraud.police.uk.
