The Childcare Offer for Wales is now available across the whole of Caerphilly county borough saving working families thousands on childcare costs.

Welsh Government have given the green light for the pilot to be rolled out across the entire county offering parents of children aged between 3 and 4 access to funding for childcare.

From the term following their 3rd birthday, children could be entitled to 20 hours of government funded childcare. This is in addition to the 10 hours already provided by the part-time Foundation Phase and up to 30 hours of childcare during the school
    holidays.

Parents could save up to £4,725 per year on the cost of childcare until they are offered a fulltime education place, usually the September after their child’s fourth birthday.

The funding is issued based on address rather than childcare provision so those who use an out of county childcare facility are still able to do so.

    Eligible parents will:-

    • Have a child aged 3 / 4 who is able to access part time education
    • Earn no more than £100,000 per year
    • Live in Caerphilly county borough

Cllr. Philippa Marsden, Cabinet Member responsible for Education and Achievement commented,

“We are thrilled that Welsh Government have agreed to extend the pilot to include parents across the entire county. Taking advantage of this offer could save working parents a small fortune in the transition between the foundation phase and fulltime education.”

The application process is outlined in 3 simple steps, all of which is detailed on the councils website www.caerphilly.gov.uk
