Indoor climbing company The Climbing Hangar will open its first dedicated indoor bouldering facility in Swansea, creating 10 new jobs, after securing a new site in a deal brokered by joint property agents JLL and Lambert Smith Hampton.

The Climbing Hangar will be their fourth bouldering centre, becoming the first to develop a dedicated bouldering centre in Swansea.

The 10,000sq ft climbing centre, designed by zynk Design, features a 600m2 squared climbing surface with innovative climbing holds that will create a challenging experience for climbers of all abilities.

Complimenting the climbing wall will be a relaxing café and retail area for the community to come together and enjoy a selection of food and drink. Members will also have access to a new yoga studio, with classes being run throughout the week.

The Climbing Hangar offers a range of climbing activities for all skill and experience levels. Children as young as four can join and take part in a range of introductory kids’ coaching clubs – there is also opportunity for children to become part of the HangarSquad youth team as they continue to develop their climbing skills.

The facility, which is set to open this spring, will also offer free onsite customer parking.

Ged MacDohmnaill, founder and CEO of The Climbing Hangar, said:

“We are really excited to be bringing Swansea its first dedicated indoor bouldering facility. It’s such a vibrant city with an outdoor edge, The Climbing Hangar will fit right in, we cannot wait to get the doors open and everybody off the ground!”

Kate Openshaw at JLL in Cardiff said:

“The recent letting of 3 Castell Close to The Climbing Hangar is positive news for Swansea, particularly given the site’s location in the heart of Swansea Enterprise Park amongst other strong leisure occupiers and the city being chosen as The Climbing Hangar’s latest location above others. It also shows that demand for industrial stock for leisure uses remains high against a backdrop of short supply.”
