Last weekend, Wales defeated Scotland in a Six Nations clash, the second edition of the ‘Doddie Weir Cup’ held at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield. With the first unfolding in Wales’ Principality Stadium, attended by Doddie in full tartan attire, the Welsh and Scottish paths are crossing all the time when it comes to sport.

Just this week we have seen the meeting of Welsh and Scottish sports minds. Former Scotland Rugby international, Doddie Weir, has listed a collection of items on the Welsh-founded fundraising platform; Bid-Aid.

This is in a mission to raise money for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation; a charity set up by the legendary star.

Founded in 2017, the foundation was created following the sportsman’s diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease. While a huge shock to Doddie and the wider rugby community, he has turned a negative into a positive, launching this unique foundation to raise funds and aid research into Motor Neurone Disease.

To date, the organisation has raised over £2.4m, credited across the globe for the invaluable work it is doing to one day find a cure for this disease. But, with the help of Bid-Aid, this day could be a lot sooner.

Bid-Aid is a revolutionary online fundraising website created by Olympian; Jamie Baulch and his business partner; Leon Hughes.

The team, headquartered in Cardiff, are now actively welcoming bids on exclusive memorabilia and experiences donated to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, giving the charity the opportunity to promote products to an international audience of potential bidders.

Jamie Baulch is thrilled to see these items gathering momentum.

“Here at Bid-Aid, our sole mission is to help reputable charitable organisations meet their fundraising targets and achieve their objectives. This is why we were overjoyed to welcome these amazing pieces of memorabilia and experiences onto the site, providing a platform in which the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation can utilise all year round.”

    The auction items

At present, online bidders can bid on any of these ‘money-can’t-buy’ items:
