Work including, erecting new gates, trimming overgrowth back and making sure steps are clear and safe to use, have been all part of the maintenance work on Ceredigion’s coastal paths before people start to make more use of the paths as the weather will warm up in the months ahead.

Eifion Jones, Public Rights of Way officer, Ceredigion County Council said, “As a team, we are very grateful, as always, to all our hard-working volunteers, who help keep the Rights of Way paths accessible for the public. We’re indebted to them for their passion and enthusiasm in ensuring that the paths are ready to welcome visitors.”

In the Weatherman Walking series, being aired now, Derek is walking eight stretches of the 870-mile Welsh coastal path. Along his way he’ll be meeting with local path rangers and volunteers to learn about the history and geography of the area and taking part in activities along the coast. In Ceredigion, Derek will be showcasing some of the magnificent views from the coastal path between Borth/Ynyslas to Aberystwyth on BBC One Wales at 7:30pm on Friday, 26 April.

Whilst in Ceredigion, Derek also had the chance to go paddle boarding in Borth; explored Cors Fochno, the raised bog which forms part of the Ceredigion coastal path; visited Borth Station Museum, learnt the story of Cantre’ Gwaelod at Sarn Gynfelyn and took the cliff railway up to the top of Consitution Hill overlooking Aberystwyth.
