Eligible new enterprises in Caerphilly are to receive another year of grant support, thanks to UKSE and Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The highly successful Business Start Up programme, which helped 12 new businesses to launch last year, will be continuing to provide grants for qualifying ventures in 2019/20.
Tata Steel subsidiary UKSE has provided a further £5000 for this year as part of its community support programme, and the organisation is looking forward to another year of working with the council to give start-ups a helping hand.

Martin Palmer of UKSE said: ”We are very pleased to be collaborating with Caerphilly in this way, helping new ventures, creating jobs and employment in the area, and playing a part in developing and changing the economy.
“Caerphilly has a strong enterprise culture, and while all new businesses are important, it may be that some will grow into the big employers of the future.”
In 2018/19 grants were provided to a range of sectors covering publishing, catering, architecture, events and decorating.
In Oakdale Funeral Directors G. Brown and N. Prosser received help to refurbish their premises, and a new café was set up in Rhymney by former Maths teacher Lisa Price.
A new eating place, Y Caban, is being set up in Ystrad Mynach by sisters Ceri Perkins and Kathryn Gray, adding to the town’s leisure facilities.
A children’s publishing house with beautiful illustrations – Quack Quack Stories – is being launched in Blackwood by John Kelly, again with support from the programme.
Cllr Sean Morgan, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy said he was delighted that UKSE had supported the programme for another year.
“A dozen businesses were helped last year and we are looking forward to another successful year for the programme,” he said.
“The Business Start Up programme is an important part of the support package we have for new enterprises in Caerphilly, and in recent years has helped many businesses get off the ground. We are very grateful to UKSE for their continued support.”
