Diabetes UK Cymru is inviting fundraisers to take part in a sponsored summertime walk through some of Cardiff’s best-loved parks and green spaces.

The walk takes place on Sunday 21 July and will cover eight miles, following the River Taff through the capital and past many of the city’s iconic landmarks.

Starting from Hailey Park in Llandaff North at 11am, walkers will pass through Pontcanna Fields and into the city centre’s Bute Park. After passing Cardiff Castle, the route then follows the Taff Embankment to Cardiff Bay and across the Barrage. After walking around Cardiff Marina, walkers will cross the finish line at Diabetes UK Cymru’s office in Global Reach.

The wide, flat route is suitable for all abilities and all participants will receive a medal for taking part.

Joseph Cuff, Fundraising Manager, Diabetes UK Cymru, said, “We hope lots of people will join us for this sponsored stroll through some of our capital city’s most picturesque scenery. Everyone is welcome to complete the distance at their own pace, and we’ll be waiting to celebrate with you at the finish line at our office.

“Get your friends and family to sponsor you, or even better, to join in themselves. Every penny raised will allow us to continue to support the 194,000 people living with diabetes across Wales, and their families.”
