Ronald McDonald House Charities in Cardiff are holding their annual Sponsored Pirate and Princess Walk, around King George V Drive in Cardiff, to help keep families together.

The independent Charity provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with sick children in hospitals across the UK, enabling them to maintain a degree of a normal life and be there for their child at a time when they need their family the most.

The House in Cardiff are calling all pirates and princesses to join their Young American Teen International and her beauty queens on a 1.6 mile sponsored walk around the local park. There will be lots of fun and fancy dress, as well as face painting and hair braiding. There will also be a raffle with fantastic prizes, lots of tasty refreshments and outdoor games.

Ronald McDonald House Charities are encouraging participants to raise a sponsorship of £25. By raising £25 you will be helping a family to stay in a House, like Cardiff, for one night. For a parent to be able stay near their child, during a rather stressful and emotional time is so important; with your help this is possible.

A themed walk is a great way to get the community involved in a fulfilling activity together and will ultimately help to raise funds for a great cause that is close to so many people’s hearts. The campaign is hoping to raise £3,500 which will enable the Charity to continue to provide support for hundreds of families in the future.

Currently, there are 11 Ronald McDonald Houses each are situated just moments away from specialist children’s hospitals. Last year the Charity supported more than 6,000 families with children in hospital and in Ronald McDonald House Cardiff close to 1,2000 families have received a place to stay.

There is still time to sign up for the Pirate and Princess Walk. For more information, please contact Abbie on [email protected]
