    Devoted grandmother who died in Cardiff crash is named

    The 68 year-old woman who died following a road traffic collision on Cowbridge Road, Cardiff on Friday 16th August has been named as Oi Mee Lam from Llandaff.

    The collision involved a grey Nissan Micra, a black Audi A3 and a black taxi.  Ms Lam, the driver of the Micra, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, where she later died.

    In paying tribute to Ms Lam, her family said: “Oi Mee Lam was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt and friend.

    “She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The family of Mrs Lam wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful people who were kind enough to come to her aid.”

    South Wales Police is continuing its investigation following the collision which happened at 2:35pm on Friday the 16th of August 2019 at the junction of Hillsnook Road and the A48 Cowbridge Road West, Ely, Cardiff.

    Officers investigating the incident are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, stopped to provide assistance, or anyone travelling in the area at the time, who may have dash-cam footage of the collision, to make contact with police. In particular police would like to speak to the driver of the black taxi that was involved in the collision.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Wales Police Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting ref 1900302064 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

    A 35 year-old man from the Ely area who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation.
