Cardiff City fans are getting the chance to cheer on the newly-promoted Bluebirds at an open top bus parade this weekend.

To celebrate the team’s successful promotion to the Premier League, a victory parade is being held on the capital’s streets from 3pm on Sunday 13 May.

As part of the event, the team’s players and coaches will be jumping on board an open top bus to enable fans to celebrate alongside their sporting heroes.

The open top bus, will begin at Cardiff City Stadium at 3pm and make its way along Leckwith Road, travelling along Cowbridge Road East and on to Castle Street, before ending its journey outside the castle where a civic reception is set to be held.

Due to the parade, and the Car-Free Day event which is also taking place on Sunday, Cardiff Bus has a number of service diversions in place across the city.

Roads from the stadium through Leckwith and Canton will be closed from 3pm and will re-open after the parade has passed by. However, other city centre roads that are closed for the parade and Car Free Daywill remain closed until 8pm.

Commercial manager at Cardiff Bus Gareth Stevens said:

“We would like to congratulate Cardiff City FC on their fantastic promotion to the Premier League and we look forward to celebrating their success along with thousands of fans during this weekend’s event.

“Due to the parade, which is being held at the same time as Car Free Day , there will be a number of diversions in place across our services. However, we will aim to keep these to a minimum and return all our services to their normal operating routes as soon as possible after both events.

“We hope everyone has a fantastic day on Sunday and takes advantage of our reduced priced Park and Ride at Cardiff East (£2 per car all day) and our Adult Day to Go tickets will be only £2.50 all day, to help them travel into the centre hassle-free. The East Park & Ride shuttle buses will be running into the city centre  every 15 minutes from 9:30am with the last bus leaving the city centre at 5.30pm.

“For full information on diversions and to find out more about our reduced price tickets please visit www.cardiffbus.com or contact us via our social media channels on Twitter and Facebook.”
