Following the success of Barry’s first Pride event on Saturday (21st September), Bro Radio has partnered with Pride Cymru and Radio Cardiff for a new weekly LGBTQ+ Radio Show.
The radio show is hosted by Matthew Wilson from Pride Cymru and the organisers of Pride Cymru’s Big Weekend in Cardiff, Wales’ largest celebration of equality and diversity.
The Pride Cymru Radio show is currently broadcast on Radio Cardiff, the Capital city’s community radio station and will now be brought to the Vale of Glamorgan on Bro Radio, broadcast live across the two radio stations.
The two-hour radio show, which will broadcast each Wednesday night from 7 pm will focus on topical discussion and music, based on LGBT+ issues happening in Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and around the world.
Its host Matthew Wilson, who back in 2010 hosted Bro Radio Breakfast, said: “I’m really excited that the show is growing and thrilled to see the positive impact and interaction with the local LGBT+ community. Local radio is really important to our community because it deals with issues affecting us in our everyday lives. I’m also really excited to be back on Bro Radio and sharing what we do with a wider audience in the Vale.”
Bro Radio’s Operations Director Nathan Spackman said: “I’ve always been keen for us to give a voice to the LGBT+ community here in the Vale of Glamorgan. Working with Radio Cardiff and off the back of the success of the first Barry Pride, we hope to be able to continue the conversations that have begun locally around LGBT+ rights and issues across the region.”
The Pride Cymru Radio show will launch on Bro Radio on 9 October from 7 pm.
