Swansea shoppers will see local green charity, The Environment Centre, take over Lush this weekend, as the store host’s the charity pop-up on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October.
This weekend, Lush on Oxford Street will host a pop-up stall with The Environment Centre, who will be raising awareness of local environmental issues, and how people from Swansea can get involved. Shoppers will also be able to purchase plastic free alternatives to everyday items, all proceeds of which will directly support the charity.
Phil McDonnell, Environment Centre manager, said: “It’s great to see businesses in Swansea, like Lush, supporting charities like ours and helping raise awareness of environmental issues like single-use plastics. We know how keen people in Swansea are to do the right thing, so we’re looking forward to speaking to shoppers this weekend about how they can get involved in creating big change.”
During the two days, 100% of the revenue (minus VAT) from sales of Lush’s Charity Pot hand and body lotion will also go to The Environment Centre. Last year, sales of the Charity Pot body lotion raised £9,845,000 worldwide for a variety of good causes working in the focus areas.
Supervisor and events organiser of Lush Swansea, Joanne Griffiths, said: “The Environment Centre ethics are closely linked to the ethics of our own, with many Lush products being the first of their kind, and paving the way for a waste free future. We are excited to be able to host an event like this for a charity so local to us, and hope that we can work together on many exciting events in the future.”
Lush Swansea is just one of several businesses supporting the charity. For the month of November, Hoogah on Brynymor Road have chosen The Environment Centre as their charity of the month, where profits from a special pizza and cocktail are donated.
