The Curious Muchness of Stuff and Nonsense: 5 December 7pm, 6 December 7pm (audio description) and 7 December 3pm & 7pm

This Christmas join Hijinx Odyssey as they follow Alys, her cat Dinah and the white rabbit on their adventures in a whole new wonderland adventure.

Hijinx Odyssey, the community theatre arm of professional theatre company Hijinx, will perform ‘The Curious Muchness of Stuff and Nonsense’ in Weston Studio of the Wales Millennium Centre this December.

Written by Hefin Robinson, ‘The Curious Muchness of Stuff and Nonsense’ features a large cast of disabled and non-disabled performers from Hijinx Odyssey, pupils from Woodlands High School, and haunting, original music by Daniel Soley, composer in residence.

This is the fourth year Hijinx Odyssey have partnered with Ty Cerdd to facilitate an opportunity for a composer in residence to gain valuable theatre score experience.

As well as the four exciting performances there will also be an exhibition in the Wales Millennium Centre from 2 December to 6 January, where visitors can explore the curious wonderland even further. The exhibition will showcase the design process by students from the University of South Wales Creative and Therapeutic Arts degree course, who Odyssey have partnered with for the last three years.

Audience members who arrive early will be treated to a pre-show performance by Telemachus, Hijinx’s youth theatre group for disabled and non-disabled aged 16-24 years.

Hijinx Odyssey is a Cardiff based inclusive community group for adults over 25 years who love drama. 2019 is a special year for the group as they celebrate their 20th anniversary. Hijinx Odyssey is a fully inclusive group, bringing together people with and without disabilities from all different backgrounds.

It is just one part of the community work Hijinx carry out as part of Hijinx Pawb. Hijinx Pawb is for everyone, so that wherever you live in Wales you can perform with Hijinx.

Nia Ramage describes Hijinx Odyssey as “like having an extended family,” she continues, “There’s an amazing sense of unity between all the members of Odyssey as well as Hijinx staff and volunteers and we pride ourselves on working together as a team at all times. We continuously help each other out whether it’s during our Monday night sessions, weekend rehearsals or during our actual performances.”

Tickets are £9 for adults and £6 for under 16s and are available to book in person from Wales Millennium Centre ticket office, over the telephone on 029 20 636464, or online at www.wmc.org.uk
