Popular Cardiff farm park devastated by flood water

Cefn Mably Farm Park on the outskirts of Cardiff has been devastated by the rising flood water in the wake of Storm Dennis.

The family-run farm park is popular with young families and those looking to get up close with the great outdoors. The farm has a number of outdoor activities for children, including a climbing area and real ‘diggers’. Visitors can also get up close with the animals.

However, the farm park has had to close suddenly due to the damaged caused to its grounds as a result of the bad weather South Wales experienced at the weekend.

The grounds were flooded on Sunday morning due to the adverse weather conditions.

All of the animals are safe and dry, but the indoor soft play and shop areas have been severely damaged.

It has been there for as long as I can remember, visiting and helping out when I was in school, and now more recently, visiting with my own family. We are so lucky to have this place a stones throw away from the city, giving thousands of children an opportunity to learn about rural life. The closure of the site will be divesting for the owners, but also for the entire local community.

As of Wednesday morning, hundreds of comments in show of support have been left on the farm park’s Facebook page, with many offering their time in addition to financial help to get them back up and running.

It is predicted that the farm will be closed for at least eight months, as the owners attempt to salvage what’s there.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up with the aim of raising £5,000 to help with costs of rebuilding the farm park. https://www.gofundme.com/f/cefn-mably-farm-park
