One of Lloyds Banking Group’s most senior banking professionals has been appointed as its Ambassador for Wales with the main aim of supporting social and economic prosperity across the nation.

Carys Williams takes on the new role alongside her current position as Lloyds Bank’s Regional Director, where she oversees around 200 branches and has responsibility for more than 2,000 colleagues in Wales and the West of England.

As the banking group’s Welsh Ambassador, Carys will head up a team of senior colleagues committed to tackling issues faced by Welsh businesses and communities. The team have a strong focus supporting businesses across the length and breadth of Wales, improving the digital skills of businesses, charities and our communities, and helping young people to develop the financial skills they need to prosper as adults.

Carys has worked for Lloyds Banking Group for the past 12 years in a variety of roles including procurement, audit and risk management before becoming a Regional Director. Before joining the banking group, Carys also held roles at MBNA in Chester and KPMG in Cardiff.

    On her appointment Carys said:

“I’m delighted to be taking up the role as Lloyds Banking Group’s Ambassador for Wales. I’m really pleased to have a very strong team of people who are genuinely passionate about making a difference to those living and working in Wales. As someone who was born and bred here, my aim is to build on the great work the Group has already supported and introduce new initiatives to help businesses, communities and individuals.

“We want to go beyond business as usual and help tackle important local social and economic challenges. I’m looking forward to forging strong relationships with the Welsh government and other stakeholders across the nation to understand how we can better support our diverse communities, as part of our overarching plan to help Wales prosper.”
