Key Workers will no longer have to pay to park their vehicle on-street or in Cardiff Council-owned car parks under new measures released this week to help in the fight against COVID-19 outbreak.

Key workers are carrying out vital jobs to ensure that society can continue to operate during the ongoing emergency.

The council-owned car parks which are free for key workers are:

    • Canton car parks (Wellington Street; Leckwith Road; Severn Road; Grey Street and Harvey Street car parks)
    • Havana Street car park
    • The Barrage car park
    • Sophia Gardens car park
    • North Road car park
    • Castle Mews car park
    • Llandaff High Street car park
    • Pontcanna Fields car park
    • Llandaff Fields car park
    • Heath Park car park – NHS staff only.

The Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay, which is now owned by Cardiff Council, has also offered its parking spaces to key workers for free.

Following Government guidelines, the Centre has closed its doors to keep its staff and visitors safe. During this time, the Centre wanted to offer its car parking facilities free of charge to key workers who are working in Cardiff Bay, including supermarket workers, NHS and medical staff, and staff at the schools and nurseries nearby who have to stay open.

To apply for free parking at The Red Dragon Centre, individuals will need to email [email protected]with confirmation of their place of work, name, ID badge and vehicle registration number.
