RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information to try and track the owner of a cat with an injured eye found in Treorchy.

The ginger and white cat was found by a member of the public in the Dilys Street area who called the RSPCA due to concerns about his eye.

The cat has been taken into the care of the RSPCA for treatment with the animal welfare charity now hoping to track his owner. Unfortunately the unneutered cat has no microchip or collar.

RSPCA animal collection officer Fiona Thomas said: “This cat is currently at our Merthyr Tydfil Veterinary Clinic with our veterinary surgeon planning to operating on his eye this week.

“It is hoped he can save the eye but he may have no option to remove it as it is badly injured. Hopefully whatever the case he will recover swifty and we can find where he belongs.

“Anyone with information about who may own this cat is urged to contact our inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. We’d love to be able to find his owner.”

The RSPCA would like to remind people to get their pets microchipped to give their lost pets the chance of returning home. It is also important to register the chip with a national database and update your contact details if you move or change phone number. More information can be found at www.rspca.org.uk/allaboutanimals/pets/general/microchipping
