Tenovus Cancer Care’s Sing With Us Choir has been voted the latest winner of St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s St Tydfil Cares Community Fund and now has £200 to spend with Edwards Coaches.

Local charities and community groups were invited to contact the shopping centre and explain how the vouchers would be of benefit to them, then three were chosen to go through a public vote. A total of 485 votes were received with the choir coming out on top.

Tenovus Cancer Care’s Sing With Us Choir is for anyone who is affected by cancer and unites people, lifts spirits, and improves well-being. Performing helps members gain confidence, come together as a family and raise awareness of how singing can offer support. The choir will use the Edwards Coaches vouchers to help cover the cost of transport to and from performances.

Iori Haugen, Choir Leader at Tenovus Cancer Care, commented:

“It’s lovely that so many people made the effort and chose to vote for the Sing With Us Merthyr Choir. Tenovus Cancer Care works hard within the local community to help those affected by cancer, and this is such a wonderful way for people to say thank you. We are already planning how to spend the vouchers, and we are hoping this will help us build a strong relationship with Edwards Coaches for any future adventures we may have. Diolch yn fawr!”

Julie Calderbank, Operations Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, added:

“Congratulations to Tenovus Cancer Care. It’s clear from the support they received they’re a much loved local charity and we hope the vouchers help the choir with their upcoming performances.”

As part of the St Tydfil Cares Community Fund the shopping centre is currently inviting groups that will be running activities for children during the school summer holidays to nominate themselves to receive £200 to spend at Wilko. Nominations can be made by emailing [email protected] by Sunday 1st July.
